One of the things I remember growing up is how my mom cut food. To this day it makes my french toast taste better when she cuts it. I love watching her cut veggies for a salad or cutting up an apple. I remember her cutting the apple for me so I could see the seeds make a star! The way she cuts a watermelon is also special. She takes the time to take the seeds out. I will watch her cut it and then eat what was left on the rind. I remember always watching her cut food, and how she holds her knife. I still love to watch her.
Lucy has pretty much graduated from baby food, so now my job as a food cutter has come in full effect. Who knew that cutting food would become such a job for a mother. And who knew how much I would enjoy doing it. And who knew it was so special to me that I would blog about it and share with my friends and family. (I don't blog often, but this was rolling in my mind.) This all came up while I was cutting and peeling grapes for Lucy. (Cutting/peeling grapes is no joke)
It takes time and patients when you have a screaming baby waiting for her food, but I love to cut fruits and veggies for my precious Lucy.
I do find it a little stressful, with everything on the news and media about eating right. I mean I am truly responsible for feeding Lucy and making sure she gets everything she needs. That is also something that rolls in my mind over and over, I sometimes obsess about it. I figure I like cutting fruits and veggies for her so she must be doing all right if I cook as fresh as I can.
So to my friends that just had their first child and or about to have their first child, be prepared to cut, cut, cut!! I love doing it! It makes me feel good and every time I cut food for my sweet precious Lucy I remember my own mother. Thank you mom for cutting fresh veggies and fruit for me, and thank you mom for cooking as fresh as you could! I truly love to cook fresh because of you.
